Mediocre Monday

Today, I am feeling 'blah'.  Not because it's time to stand on the scale again, rather because I think I am coming down with a cold.  But I will talk about three things today.  The first is...... (drum roll, please) ......

Today's Weigh In:

2 6 3 . 4

So, weighing a bit less than last time, yay! And so, my journey continues.

Next up... Atkins:

This is the eating plan that I am currently following.  And I must say that I am loving it far more than I ever thought would be possible. I was so very focused on all the foods that I would not be able to eat, like rice, breads, and sugary treats... that I ignored all the incredible foods that I was not only allowed, but encouraged to eat.  Foods like my favorite meats and cheeses, and of course the incredible, edible, egg are staples on this plan.  Getting creative and finding alternatives for some things... like chips and pasta... is an ongoing adventure that has allowed me to discover some great recipes and unique uses for some foods that I thought I truly knew.

To learn more about the plan from the source itself head on over to the Atkins online community:

There you can join a community of people also on the Atkins journey... I am not a huge fan of the carb tracker feature (a way to log and keep track of your food), but I like the recipes, blogs, and other features of the site!

For more information, and articles on a large variety of diet and nutritional health I also like:

I do like the articles and their supporting evidence based study links.  I also agree with most of the author's dietary conclusions, but I do not believe in many things that he simply assumes is true... like evolution.  So when he makes a statement about how we did not evolve eating processed foods... I have to shake my head and smile... because he is correct... we did not evolve! We were created.  I do agree that we should avoid overly processed foods when possible because processing will remove and/or introduce ingredients and all of their associated nutrients (or lack thereof) and all of their benefits.

Explore!

I recommend you simply play on the internet with searches regarding Low Carb or Induction Friendly recipes... and have fun checking out the many links, blogs, Pinterest pins, etc...

And the Third (and most important) Part: PRAYER!

God should always be the most important thing in your life. Your relationship with Him is far more important than any plan (diet or otherwise) that can be devised by the wisdom or science of man.
When you spend time in prayer it becomes easier to make wise choices because you are giving your anxieties, cravings, doubts, excuses, and negativity up to God.  When you leave your problems, hopes, dreams, and everything else in God's hands you will find it has both an immediate and long term effect on the success of your life's endeavors. Time spent in prayer is always time put to good use.
In my personal journey, I am always more satisfied, more successful, more productive, and more far more at peace when I spend a significant amount of time in prayer.  As you get more and more comfortable praying and speaking to God, you will find that when life throws a lemon/problem your way it becomes second nature to simply lob it on up to Him and worries, fears, and anxieties are no longer what controls my attitudes and outlook.
So, in conclusion: you should spend as much, if not more, time in prayer as you do worrying and/or planning on just what you will be doing!!
